Thanks Jan! MAPS definitely brings us closer to birds in many ways and there is something very satisfying in spending the full arc of a breeding season with a community of birds. Small numbers of Maggies should already be in your 'backyard' by now-those neotropical migrants don't waste any time! On the other hand, the White-throats, Hermits and Towhees that we've been banding this summer won't be moving far for at least another month or more.

We are planning on expanding the MAPS program in 2010 to have at least four stations running so lots of new and exciting stuff around the corner!

Really nice species diversity - it has to be wonderful to witness the abundant result of the breeding season - and that means, that means - they're headed south right into binocular range! Ah, maggies!

As always, thanks for the pics.

So, did you get to use that complicated cardboard cylinder & button gizmo on the HSA? ;)

Have to say I'll miss these terrific looks into your neck of the woods. But then, there's still RRID to come & then next season. Yup.
